Mark Ballas Is Sorry To See “Great Dancer” Ralph Macchio Leave Before DWTS Finals
This is Mark Ballas's fourth trip to the Dancing With the Stars Finals. He’s won twice — Season 6 with Kristi Yamaguchi and Season 8 with Shawn Johnson. He took Bristol Palin to the Finals (somehow) last season and they made it to third place.
Now he wants to bring home a Mirror Ball trophy for Team Kanenball.
Mark is really good at taking his (young and/or very fit) partners to the end and wowing the judges with impressive Freestyle routines. And since Season 12 dancer Chelsea Kane is a little bit more flexible and talented than Bristol, we’re probably going to see something closer to Kristi and Shawn than The Bristallion.
“While I want to win, I still feel bad for Ralph,” Mark blogs. “He's the nicest guy and it's been a pleasure getting to know him. He's become a great dancer and overcome a significant injury to make a great run. I'm sorry it got cut short, but I'm glad all of us got a chance to see the side of Ralph that we did — he's a lovely guy. I've known Karina [Smirnoff] my whole life and definitely feel her pain. Working extremely hard for the goal, only to be eliminated when you're so close is very painful for us, since we've been competing our whole lives. We'll miss you guys.”
Very sweet! But now Mark has to get back to work. He and Chelsea already talked a little bit about their Freestyle plans. On the Semifinals Results Show Mark & Chelsea also revealed that they will be dancing the Samba as the Judges' Choice routine. The third dance they’ll have next week is their Favorite Dance of the Season. Of the three dances, the Freestyle is “easily” Mark’s favorite.
“I've had ideas on this one for a long time, and I can't wait to teach it to Chels,” he writes. “Look out finals...here we come!”
Do you remember Mark & Shawn's athletic (and partially masked) Freestyle? Check out the video below. Warning: It’s exhausting just to watch them.
