The Bachelorette

Exclusive! The Scoop Behind Ali and Roberto’s Engagement Anniversary Trip

Once and for all, ABC did not set up that engagement anniversary trip to Tahiti for The Bachelorette’s Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez — but who did? In the wake of reports that the luxury vacation was arranged by ABC as a PR stunt to bolster the idea that at least some Bachelor/Bachelorette couplings are successful, we asked an ABC publicist for the show if the network had planned and paid for the pricey getaway.

“[T]he network is no longer actively involved with the stars from past seasons,” the rep told Wetpaint exclusively. “Subsequently, any reference to ABC would be incorrect as it pertains to these two.”

We were then referred to a spokesperson for Warner Brothers, which produces the show. Did the studio arrange the exotic escape and foot the bill? “We don't ever comment on the Bachelor contestants’ personal lives,” the rep emailed, adding that Ali had explained it all to People. Indeed, Ali did say, “ABC had nothing to do with it. Roberto planned this all out for us. He surprised me with this and I was really proud of him that he pulled this off. It was so romantic.”

Of course, that denial doesn’t say who Roberto planned it with (Warner Brothers?), how he paid for it, or why there happened to be photographers on hand for every perfect moment. And who takes an “engagement anniversary” vacation, anyway? That’s usually called a honeymoon...

Which begs another question: When will Ali and Roberto tie the knot?
