Aerosmith Guitarist Joe Perry: ‘I’m Happy For Steven’
Ever since Idol Season 10 judge Steven Tyler went public with his decision to join the show, his Aerosmith bandmates have been harshing on him big time. Band guitarist Joe Perry has been leading the pack, calling Idol “one step above Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” Joe and Steven have had a long history of drama and media overtures, but the rhetoric surrounding Steven’s Idol gig had many wondering if Aerosmith was on its last legs.
Only adding to the rumors that Aerosmith was no more, Steven released a solo single, “(It) Feels So Good.” Then despite rumors that Aerosmith would perform on the Idol season finale, Steven ended up going solo. The prospect for new Aerosmith music has been looking progressively grimmer. But after a recent interview with Creemmagazine, Joe Perry seems to have toned down the drama a little. Said Joe, "The break from the band has been really good. The only thing is I wish Steven would've told us earlier, but I'm happy for him."
Steven is under contract to come back to Idol for Season 11, but Aerosmith fans had hoped the band would put aside their differences to record on album this summer. From the sound of this quote from Joe Perry, it sounds like this is a real possibility!
