There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to the start of Bones Season 7! The November 3 premiere date gave us cause for concern, as most other shows will be returning in September. But this is no mere whim of the television gods — according to New York Magazine, there’s a good reason for the delay.
Contrary to what you might think, Emily Deschanel’s (and Brennan’s) pregnancy doesn’t have all that much to do with the decision. Creator Hart Hanson tells the mag that Fox’s “programming logic” on the issue makes sense — although Hanson’s keeping his lips sealed on exactly what that logic is. But it looks like the timing actually works in his favor, as it’ll throw off the risk of any upstaging by Simon Cowell’s much hyped American reboot of The X Factor (likely airing two-hour episodes on Wednesdays and Thursdays through October), or the uncommonly early Game 2 of the World Series (on October 20).
Hanson elaborates that the late premiere “will probably allow us to air the six episodes we are likely to be able to shoot before Emily has her baby.” Bottom line for Bones fans: Good things come to those who wait.
