Aria and Jason Kiss! Recap of Pretty Little Liars, Season 2, Episode 9: ”Picture This”
Tonight's episode of Pretty Little Liars had plenty of surprises — what else is new? — but the one we're most upset about is the apparent departure of Caleb Rivers (Tyler Blackburn). Is this the last we'll see of the troublemaker with the beautiful hair and the heart of gold? Say it ain't so! We're assuming he'll be back to the show soon, but that's the same thing we thought about previous love interests on the show, like Sean (Chuck Hittinger), Paige (Lindsey Shaw), and Maya (Bianca Lawson). (In other words, the actor who plays Caleb shouldn't get his hopes up!)
The episode, entitled "Picture This," begins the way all episodes should: with a hot guy in bed with his shirt off. As it turns out, it's just a dream, and Aria (Lucy Hale) is freaked out because she's been having a lot of these hot-and-heavy dreams about Jason DiLaurentis (Drew Van Acker). (So we're not the only ones?) Her solution? Show up at Ezra (Ian Harding)'s office and start making out with him feverishly. If only all of life's problems could be solved this way.
While in the hospital, the girls learn that Jenna (Tammin Sursok)might be having surgery to restore her vision. They wonder if this means they'll finally be off the hook for their role in the barn explosion. If we were one of the girls, we'd be more concerned about convincing Jenna to give us her designer shades once she no longer needs them. Priorities, people.
Spencer (Troian Bellisario) has apparently decided that no day is complete without a little spying on Jason, and this time she sees him getting angry when his gardener gets near his shed. We figure Jason must be hiding something pretty important, since he uses the exact same tone of voice on that gardener that we use whenever someone asks us for one M&M and then they take a whole handful. Don't you hate that? (Sorry — we're getting sidetracked.)
Hanna (Ashley Benson) realizes that Caleb has actually been followed lately by a private investigator hired by his mom, not a cop. But how sweet of Hanna to expect the worst! Hanna later help Caleb find out more about his mom, and they discover she is living in California with her two other kids. Caleb is upset, but Hanna tries to convince him to call her. (The lesson here? When in doubt, always call your mom.)
Emily (Shay Mitchell) plays poker with Samara and her friends, proving to be quite the card shark. (Get this girl to Atlantic City, stat!) But then Em gets a text from "A," demanding that she give her phone number to Samara's friend Zoey, or else "A" will reveal that Emily has been taking more steroids than Barry Bonds. So Emily reluctantly complies, infuriating Samara, who tells Emily she wants to take a break. We hope "A" is happy!
Aria's parents still don't know how to handle her delinquent brother, Mike (Cody Christian). Byron talks to Mike, who has locked himself alone in his darkened room, and Byron is now worried that Mike has a mental illness. We think Byron may be onto something. Even Howard Hughes would tell Mike to get out more.
Spencer convinces Emily to join her in a little breaking and entering, so the two of them sneak into Jason's shed. They discover a makeshift dark room that's filled with photos of Aria, taken without her knowledge. Creepy! And a little note from us to Jason: The next time you have a crush on a girl, you might want to try sending her flowers first, and if that doesn't work, then you can try the whole obsessive-stalker thing.
The girls hear Jason coming, so they rush out of the shed but leave behind their flashlight. Gulp! Clearly, Spencer and Emily are not as smooth as George Clooney's character in Ocean's Eleven. (Then again, who is? It's George Freakin' Clooney.)
Caleb calls his mom, and she wants him to visit her in California. He tells Hanna he'll return to Rosewood eventually, and then the two of them exchange "I love you's." And if you weren't a weepy mess while watching that scene, then you clearly have a heart of stone. (Not that we would ever be judgmental or anything. Not us.)
Finally, Spencer and Emily try to warn Aria about the World's Creepiest Shed, but they're too late, as Jason spots Aria and confesses his feelings for her. He leans over and kisses her, and she lets him kiss her for a moment until she tells him that she's unavailable. Our advice to Aria? Run! Run while there's still time!
And Spencer and Emily finally return to Jason's Shed of Doom, but it's completely empty, except for their flashlight.
So tonight's episode involved Caleb's departure and Jason's craziness. In other words, it was a bad night for long-haired bad boys. And after all this stress, we could use some M&Ms. Do you want to have one? (We said one!)
