Drew Ginsburg Opens Up About His Dramatic Weight Loss
Most Eligible Dallas' gay single, Drew Ginsburg, definitely has the adorable appeal of a Bravolebrity — plus he works for the family auto dealership, which sells your average, run-of-the-mill Maseratis and Lamborghinis. (NBD.) But Drew's official initiation into the hot, young singles crowd likely followed his astonishing 200-pound weight loss.
At one point weighing 420 pounds, and in danger of an early death due to diabetes like his grandmother, Drew said to the Washington Blade of his wake-up call, "My doctor once said to me, 'You get on a plane and have to wear an extra seat belt. You’re disabled.'" So, after gastric bipass surgery, Drew managed to shed half his body weight to now strut about Dallas at a svelte 210 pounds.
Drew's storyline on the show focuses on him finding true, long-lasting love after a history of flings and casual relationships. He even hopes his home state will legalize same-sex marriage "within the next five to ten years." (Uh, you do know you live in Texas, right?) And, unlike certain Housewiveswe know, Drew dismisses the idea of blaming the editing for making people look bad.
"Everything that you see in there is real for me," he assures. "It’s been an incredible life experience for me. I honestly feel like while doing this show I felt like I was coming into my own skin for the first time in my life... accepting who I am as a real person."
That’s oddly refreshing!
Most Eligible Dallas premieres Monday, August 15th on Bravo.
