Valentin Chmerkovskiy is Maksim’s younger brother. He’s been on DWTS a few times in the past, often to dance on result shows. Do you remember his “Toxic” duel with Mark Ballas — Val on violin, Mark on guitar? That was hot. It should be fun to see Val competing against his beloved bro. Maks is paired with Hope Solo, but Val got arguably the most beautiful lady in the ballroom, George Clooney’s Italian ex, Elisabetta Canalis. What a debut!
Tristan MacManus got bumped up from the DWTS pro troupe that was introduced last season. He started dancing in his home of Dublin, Ireland before moving on to compete around Europe. After appearing in Ella Enchanted, he performed in theatre productions throughout Europe, including Bryan Flynn’s production of “Oliver!” and “Aladdin". After numerous world tours and a year teaching Ballroom and Latin dance in the U.S., he returned to Europe to join the cast of “Dirty Dancing” as Dance Captain. He then went on to do a second stint on The West End stage in London. Tristan, who is probably going to win many hearts this season with his good looks and accent, is paired with firebrand Nancy Grace. He’ll need the luck of the Irish!
Peta Murgatroyd, also a former troupe member, was born in Auckland, New Zealand and raised in Perth, Western Australia. She studied classical ballet from age 4, and trained for 12 years under former principal dancer of the Kirov Ballet Madame Lubov Nikonorenko. After achieving her lifelong goal of dancing on Broadway, she moved to the U.S. to pursue a career in film and television in Los Angeles. Gorgeous Peta is paired with very tall and very wild L.A. Lakers forward Ron Artest. Ron will be good for one-liners, but it remains to be seen how Peta will deal with his craziness. Hey, maybe she’s even wilder!
