Val Chmerkovskiy: There’s No Rivalry Between Me & Maksim
Val Chmerkovskiy isn’t just a hunk, he’s also quite funny! The newest DWTS dance pro has a dry, deadpan wit that he shows off — along with some tight purple pants and his "Family Over Everything" tattoo on his left bicep — in a new interview with Access Hollywood.
Val is one of the three new pros on Dancing With the StarsSeason 13, although he's made appearances on Results Shows over the years and to support his famous DWTS pro brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. We all want to see some kind of sibling smack talk in the ballroom — just for fun! — but Val shoots down that idea.
"We've been best friends for a long time, since birth I guess," says Val, who is six years younger than Maks. "We're very close and I love him. We're very close. So this whole rivalry thing is silly."
Not only are they close, Maks has "definitely" played wingman for Val in the past, sending ladies his way when they're on the prowl. "Maks has a charm about him," Val says. "We're very different. We have different games." But they are both protective of each other. Val went with his brother to their native Ukraine when Maks was on The Bachelor Ukraine, and little bro had to protect Maks, who is a "superstar" over there. There was an incident when Maks was taking a photo with a girl and her boyfriend didn't like it. So Val had to step in and ... knock him out? He's such a badass.
