Will Jesus Be Back in Season 5 of True Blood? Kevin Alejandro Speculates!
About half theTrue Bloodsupes crashed and burned during the Season 4 finale, but we shed the most mascara-stained tears over the demise of Bon Temps’ hottest male nurse, Jesus Velasquez. A world where Lafayette and Jesus aren’t making out surrounded by beaded curtains and bean bags isn’t a world we want to live in.
“It was really sad for me, ‘cause it’s the inevitable end,” Kevin Alejandro tells Access Hollywood. “I know what’s coming, we all know what’s coming. Nelsan wasn’t exaggerating when he said that we’ve become extremely close. My family loves him. When we found out that I was gonna die, he was the first person out at my [home]. We were talking about it and trying to figure out if it was something that we did, just trying to figure out why exactly they were going in this direction with the character.”
Alan Ball reportedly made the decision to sacrifice Jesus because happy couples are boring (false!), but it was Kevin’s idea to have Jesus die at the hands of his lover. “The direction that they put the characters in [was] so ‘in love,’ where we balance each other out,” Kevin explains. “What an incredible statement to go into the show, creating such love, and having the one person that you love the most have to take your life.”
Of course, we can’t forget that Lafayette has an unfortunate neurological condition in which ghosts invade his brain, so it’s very possible that we’ll see Jesus floating around Bon Temps in the future.
“I’ve talked to a couple of people who make those decisions and yeah, I think I will be back in some aspect of helping [Lafayette] try and figure out how to use his magic, or if he gets in trouble, I think there might be an easy way to see Jesus come back,” Kevin confirms.
The easiest way being floating into Lala’s body and taking over his mind, natch.
