Modern Family

Modern Family Wins Best Comedy Series, Sweeps 2011 Emmys!

Group hug! The Dunphy and Pritchett families should be able to get along for at least one night after the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards.

Modern Family swept the Sept. 18 event, winning five awards — Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Julie Bowen; Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Ty Burrell; Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Michael Spiller; Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Steve Levitan and Jeffrey Richman and — the big gun — Outstanding Comedy Series.

Modern Family bookended the show, since Julie and Ty were given the first two awards of the night and the Outstanding Comedy win was the last Emmy awarded.

This is the second year in a row that Modern Family won Outstanding Comedy Series, but last year the supporting actor Emmy went to Eric Stonestreet. So maybe next year Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sofia Vergara can get their wins.

Congrats to all!
