We all remember the sexy tangos and the passionate paso dobles on Dancing With the Stars, but our real favorites are the numbers that make us want to get up ourselves and, well, bust a move. We could never attempt these steps with so much pep and professionalism, but watching stars like Kyle Massey and Shawn Johnson have so much fun sure made us want to try! Here’s our top five list of favorite DWTS happy dances.
5. Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas' Lindy Hop (Season 8)
This athletic routine let Shawn show off some of her gold medal-winning gymnast flips. It was a flop with critical judge Len Goodman, but we had a blast watching Mark play a geek in gym shorts.
4. Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer's Jitterbug (Season 7)
Now that's how to jitterbug: Lance got so into this high-spirited sailor routine, he lost a shoe! Not that that slowed him down any. A real Jim Dandy of a number, with so many flips, we lost count.
3. Apolo Ohno and Julianne Hough's Freestyle (Season 4)
Apolo and Julianne ruled the dance floor in Season 4, but when they got busy, hip-hop-style, to "Bust a Move," fans went wild. It may not have been ballroom, but it sure was fun.
2. Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer's Jive (Season 11)
Kyle and Lacey were rockin' and rollin' in this instant jive, set to "Good Golly, Miss Molly." Woooo! We loved this bundle-of-energy pairing and they never had more fun onstage.
1. Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough's Quickstep (Season 5)
Helio in a yellow zoot suit and dancing the quickstep was like watching a cartoon character -- on helium! We're pretty sure he was about to dance right into your living rooms. You could power a fleet of buses on Helio's natural energy.
Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff Quickstep (Season 11) The judges were always telling Aaron to "tone it down," but for TV Theme week, he, Karina, and the Muppets made for an awesomely over-the-top dose of fun and felt. Kermit only wishes he could cut a rug so well.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Brandy's Quickstep (Season 11) Brandy and Maks were known for their sultry and temperamental chemistry, but this routine, set to the "Friends" theme song, was all about fun, fun, fun! After their shocking early elimination, the two performed it again and were still all smiles. That, ladies and gents, is class.
