Update: New Jersey Governor Might Veto Jersey Shore Tax Credit
As we recently reported, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority has awardedJersey Shore a $420,000 tax credit, but now it looks like that dough might not make it into Snooki and crew’s hands.
New Jersey governor Chris Christie is threatening to veto the tax credit, saying in a press conference earlier this week that his office will be looking into the tax credit to decide if it is something that should be thrown out.
Christie has shown little love to film crews in the past: The governor previously suspended the film tax credit program back in 2010 to close a budget deficit.
At this point, anything that revitalizes Jersey economy seems like a good idea to us (the argument for the credit it that Jersey Shore increase tourism to the Garden State). But, with its record breaking ratings success, does Jersey Shore really need Jersey's tax dollars?
