Patrick Dempsey Reveals His Surprising Circus Past (VIDEO)

It's difficult to imagine covering such a perfectly chiseled face with clown makeup, but before Patrick Dempsey's hunky years, he actually started out in the circus! A roving scoop sleuth caught P-Demps outside a Cirque du Soleil performance with the fam, and asked him what he thought of the act. Shockingly, he wasn't dragged there by his wife. As a former circus enthusiast, he totally dug it!

"I think they really changed how you perceive a circus to be," he gushed of the company. "I started off in the circus. I started off as a Vaudevillian, so I remember when they started merging and it was blowing everyone away what they could do. Theatrically, the skill of all the performers and where they find them and how they put the different acts together is quite remarkable."

Yes, at the tender age of 11, Patrick got his first theatrical rush as a clown slash juggler with a traveling Vaudeville troupe. We guess that's where the nerdy roots of his Can't Buy Me Love character came from. Smash-cut to 2005 and he's playing the dreamiest doc on TV in yet another irritating example of how men only get better-looking with age...Sigh.
