The Many Faces (and Other Body Parts?) of Stephen Nathan

What do we know about Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan? Well, we’ve put out enough pieces on his goofy tweets to get a sense of quirkiness from the man. And he’s a little less tight-lipped than his cohort Hart Hanson. But did you know that Nathan has an illustrious acting career as well?

Yes indeed! Our beloved Bones exec once starred in a plethora of ‘70s TV shows -- and at least one musical, as High-Def Digest reminds us! That would be The First Nudie Musical, to be exact, the 35th-anniversary edition of which comes out on Blu-ray on November 5. The release date is flexible as of now, so maybe they’ll reschedule it to coincide with the Bones Season 7 debut!

Considering Nathan’s raunchy past, we’re all the more flabbergasted to report this tidbit from TV Line regarding the possibility of steamy Booth-Brennan scenes to come. As Nathan bluntly puts it, “you don’t need to see that on Fox[.] That’s health class in junior high.” Indeed, when it comes to Booth’s and Brennan’s relationship, Nathan hopes to expose the softer, gooier side: their affection is “so natural and organic.” (Yes, italics in the original.) “They’re not the couple you go on a date with that you never want to see again because they’re making out at dinner. We don’t want to do that.”

Granted, Nathan’s been pretty consistent in his distaste for Cinemax-style storytelling on Bones. And based on our latest poll, quite a few of you are just fine with that, so we can confidently encourage Nathan to keep on truckin’ -- and also, perhaps, to keep his distance from any more nudie musicals.
