Johnny Depp Says Photo Shoots Are Like “Being Raped”
We all know that Johnny Depp is something of an unwilling heartthrob — after all, he intentionally eschewed mainstream success in his youth by abandoning teen idol status on 21 Jump Street in favor of increasingly bizarre film roles — but this is taking it a little far.
The handsome star told Vanity Fair that he hates photo shoots. No, he doesn't just hate them — he thinks they're like a violent sex act. "You just feel like you’re being raped somehow," he told the magazine. Say what? Did he fail to learn that cameras don't actually steal your soul?
Nope. Apparently Johnny doesn't mind having pics snapped with fans, just formal shoots: "Whenever you have a photo shoot or something like that, it’s like — you just feel dumb. It’s just so stupid."
OK, we've watched America's Next Top Model, so we get how silly and awkward photo shoots can be. We don't blame the man for disliking them. But feeling "dumb" and sexual assault are, uh, really not the same at all.
Since we love Johnny so much, we're going to pretend this incoherent and borderline offensive rant is the result of too much method acting for his new project, a film adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's The Rum Diary. That's gotta be it...
