Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould Pitch Their Own Storylines for Modern Family
While most kids dread the end of summer vacation, Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould look forward to the fall because it means they get to go back to work on the ABC hit sitcomModern Family.
"It’s so exciting. I definitely missed the script and the people most. It’s like seeing your family after a long vacation,” Ariel says in regards to returning to set.
Ariel relates easily to her on-screen persona of Alex Dunphy. “If Alex was real, I think we would be friends. We’re both really snarky, we both have witty comebacks, we’re both really into education.”
However, Nolan feels he needs to tweak his quirks to play Luke Dunphy. “My weird mind helps me play off being dumb. Being quirky helps me play Luke. If I have weird ideas, I can use them in a scene.”
The two have a few plotlines in mind that they would love to see played out in Modern Family’s future.
“Luke and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) can have a sleepover and everything goes wrong. It could be like Home Alone. Manny tries to stop Luke but he’s so hyped up on sugar. They try to cook something for dinner in the microwave and it explodes,” Nolan pitched.
Winter had an idea of her own. “I would want a storyline with Ed O’Neill (Jay Pritchett) where Jay takes Alex somewhere cool. It would be like father-daughter time but grandpa-granddaughter time.”
