“Camille asked for a divorce really almost the first day we were married," Grammer, 56, exposed during his interview with Piers Morgan. "If you say you want a divorce enough times, you're going to get one."
So why did the actor wait so long — 14 years to be exact — to pull the plug? Kelsey admits he spent a long time “trying... to sell [the relationship] to myself,” but “there was this… small voice in the back of my head saying, 'This isn't going to work.'”
In fact, before Camille agreed to be a part of Real Housewives, Kelsey claims he knew the marriage was sailing straight into stormy waters.
"I remember having one conversation where I said, 'Well, don't worry about it. After the first season, you can do the Divorced Wives of Beverly Hills next season.’”
Camille has often said Kelsey encouraged her to do the show so he could pursue his other romantic interest, new wife Kayte Walsh. But Kelsey explains Camille was fame-hungry from the get-go, marrying him for ‘Frasier,’ not ‘Kelsey’. He says he gave her an opportunity to star on Bravo’s hit reality show, calling it his “parting gift” to her.
"It was my way of saying, 'Look, you always wanted to be famous. Here you go,” Kelsey says.
Kelsey said “I Do” to then 29-year-old Kayte Walsh in February 2011, mere weeks after finalizing his divorce from Camille.
He continues to only have good things to say about his new wife. Kelsey muses over their unexpected meeting: "It was insane. It was like all the planets had danced together into a segregated charm on our behalf."
We’ll see if he still feels the same way in 14 years!
