Kim Kardashian Issues Statement on Divorce: “Not an Easy Decision”
Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries this morning after just 72 days of marriage. The reality star issued a statement to E!: “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”
The couple does have a prenup in place, and in the divorce papers, Kim requests that the agreement be upheld in divorce proceedings. No word yet on whether or not Kim will return her 20.5-carat engagement ring. Kim has retained famed Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who has represented Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, Ryan Reynolds, Mariah Carey, and Maria Shriver in divorce petitions.
Meanwhile, Kim's sister Khloe Kardashian posted her reactions on Twitter: “Reading some these comments r so hurtful. Im grateful 4our fans who understand & r being respectful. Hate is disgusting. Love is everything. Thank God for family. We are strong and we will only become closer! I love YOU.”
Kourtney also showed support for her sister, tweeting: "Our sister is going through a difficult time but we're a close family and are sticking together like always. We appreciate everyone's kindness and support. @KimKardashian, we love you."
