The Kardashians

Exclusive: Kim Kardashian Starts a Furry Fashion Trend

It seems that whatever Kim Kardashian touches turns to gold, well, at least when it comes to fashion. The woman (and the butt) behind a million dollar business empire can start a trend just by tweeting, so it’s no surprise that many new designers are dying to get the petite reality star into their clothes.

The latest lucky fashion house to get the royal treatment is fresh-faced design house Jahaanara, which is sure to become a household name after Kim wore their fur jacket for a dinner date with Kris Humphries at Izakaya in West Hollywood the week before she filed for divorce. Kim was also wearing the vest the night of Kim and Kris' final fight.

Kim is the first celebrity to wear the line, the designer Geeta Kalwani, who is based in the United Emerates, exclusively reveals to Wetpaint Entertainment.

Born in Africa to Indian parents, and residing all over the world – from Paris to Switzerland, London, Singapore, Oman, and her current UAE home – Kalwani’s exposure to so many cultures invoked a personal desire to explore her own history and background.

In searching, she found that her community belonged to one of the oldest civilizations in the world, the Indus Valley, a Bronze Age civilization consisting of land that is now mostly Pakistan and northwestern India.

One of the Indus Valley’s largest exports was fur, and the soft Gilet Lamb Fur Vest is a nod to that historical trade. It’s also fashionably perfect for a Los Angeles ‘winter’ (ie., sunny and 60s every day), as it keeps Kim’s body warm and cozy but leaves her tanned arms free and cool. The vest retails for $1,930 and will soon be available worldwide.
