She’s kind of The One That Got Away. Model/make-up artist/chef Meredith Phillips got dumped by Bob Guiney on The Bachelor Season 4, then went on to be the second Bachelorette after Trista Sutter. But of all seven Bachelorettes to date, we hear the least about Meredith. She doesn’t seem to be tweeting. She’s not at red carpet events. She’s not giving updates on her life. We miss you, Meredi!
Meredith, age 30 at the time, chose Ian McKee at the end of The Bachelorette Season 2. He definitely wasn’t the safe choice, and it was sad (but not too surprising) when they split within a year of the February 2004 finale.
“We broke up, and you know, after a breakup you don't feel fantastic," Meredith told 20/20 in a “Where Are They Now” special in March 2010. "But it's tough, to have to go before the world and [say], 'Hey, I broke up, you know? I'm devastated, I'm crying.'"
Now Meredith lives in Los Angeles with her boyfriend, filmmaker Fritz Manger. She’s even written a cookbook called The Date Night Cookbook: Romantic Recipes for the Busy Couple.
According to her website, MeredithPhillips.com, she met Fritz on the first night of culinary school, and they’ve been together ever since. They set aside one night a week to cook together and that’s their date night.
LATP: What is your favorite thing to cook by yourself and what is your favorite thing to cook with your boyfriend Fritz? Meredith: When I cook by myself, it is usually light and healthy, salads and soups. When Fritz and I cook together, there are no boundaries, we will try making anything.
LATP: What is the best thing to come out of your date nights with Fritz? Meredith: Besides great meals, communication. It’s invaluable time to reconnect and listen to each other.
LATP: If you could give one piece of advice to couples about starting their own date night, what would it be? Meredith: Pick a night and try really hard to stick to it. Make it a priority. Our date night is Tuesday and we haven’t missed one yet.
It also looks like Meredith was one of the stars in Fritz's horror film Re-Cut. She played a TV reporter named ... Meredith Phillips! Watch the trailer here. Unfortunately there's barely a glimpse of her.
Last year, during that 20/20 special, Meredith vowed she and Fritz would be engaged by the fall. If that did happen, she kept it nice and quiet. Whatever else she’s up to, we wish her luck. But it wouldn’t kill her to keep in touch a little more often!
