The Bachelor

Melissa Rycroft Dishes on Her New Book and Why She’s Creeped Out By Ben Flajnik As the Next Bachelor

Last December, we were a wee bit surprised to hear Melissa Rycroft Strickland was planning to share her "incredible story of heartbreak and happiness" in a memoir. It was supposed to come out in August, but now it sounds like the book — called My Reality — will actually be released on June 5, 2012. (You can pre-order it now on

"It's kind of an inside look at the last five years of my life — the reality world, the real world, and where they mesh and how they mesh," Melissa told RedCarpetRoxy.

Melissa has a long history with reality TV, from appearing on Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team to being Jason Mesnick's original choice on The Bachelor Season 13. After Jason changed his mind, Melissa was a last minute addition to Dancing With the Stars Season 8, where she took third place. She married her old friend Tye Strickland, then went on to co-host the first season of Bachelor Pad before becoming mama to little Ava Grace, born last February. The Stricklands just moved from Dallas to Los Angeles, and Melissa has returned to work as a special contributor for Good Morning America, doing some reporting on DWTS.

When RedCarpetRoxy asked Melissa about Ben Flajnik as the Season 16 Bachelor, she admitted she’s not exactly excited about seeing the winemaker make out with a bunch of ladies.

"You know what's so weird about Ben is he reminds me of my brother," Melissa said. "So thinking of him dating or any of that is really creeping me out, because I just picture my little brother. But I do know he was a huge fan favorite and that being said I'm sure he'll do great."
