Charlie O’Connell and Sarah Brice’s Complex Love Story — Best of the Bachelor
The Bachelor is nothing if not a — wait for it — “roller coaster journey.” We started our Best of The Bachelor series with some hilarious outtakes — but now it’s time for a deep sigh of regret.
We really want The Bachelor Season 7 couple Charlie O’Connell and Sarah Brice to stay together, but for some reason life just keeps ripping them apart. Charlie (brother of actor Jerry O’Connell) picked Sarah over Krisily Kennedy in the 2005 finale, but instead of getting engaged they decided to take a chance at a relationship. They broke up in 2007, but reunited in 2008.
In 2009, during Season 13’s The Bachelor: Women Tell All special, ABC brought Charlie and Sarah out to talk about their break up and reunion. Their first break up had a lot to do with Charlie’s drinking, Sarah said. “I thought it was keeping us together,” Charlie joked, adding more seriously that he hadn’t had a drink in almost two years. Sarah said they were best friends and although they hadn’t set a wedding date, the relationship was everything she could imagine.
In a subsequent TV Guide special, Chris Harrison spoke about The Bachelor Season 7 and called Charlie and Sarah "two of my favorite people." Sarah said she was still pursuing her career as a nurse in Beverly Hills, but she and Charlie were planning their own reality show on the Oxygen network called "When Charlie Met Sarah." In January 2010, Zap2it said the show would focus on “Charlie wanting Sarah to move in with him but she doesn't want to without a ring on her finger.”
Well, that didn’t work out. In April 2010 Charlie told People Magazine, "Sarah and I actually just broke up." Why? "I think it was a mutual break-up,” he said. “The thing is that we dated for five years… and were just arguing over the same things and stuff like that. And then eventually you've got to go your separate ways."
But maybe after some time they can try again? Just give her a ring already, man!
