Dancing With the Stars Gets Huge Ratings Boost for Week 8

For whatever reason — the drama, the dancing, the lack of anything else to watch — Dancing With the Stars Season 13 just got a huge ratings boost.

According to ABC, DWTS scored 18 million viewers for Monday's Week 8 Performance Show. Last week, which was Halloween, the show had 16.3 million viewers. This marked the highest audience since the Season 13 premiere, which just over 19 million people watched.

(For those of you keeping track: last week, which was Halloween, the show had 16.3 million viewers. The week prior, scene of The Broadway Brawl, nabbed 16.99 viewers.)

This is all awesome! But what they don't say is that even 18 million viewers is way down from last season, which premiered with 22 million and had 20 million for the Week 8 Performance Show. Season 12 was a ratings standout over all — Why? Kirstie Alley? Hines Ward? — but Season 11 also had 20 million viewers for the Week 8 Performance Show.

So more people are watching DWTS now than a few weeks ago, but fewer people are watching this season than the last few seasons. Why? Where did those people go?
