Dancing With The Stars

Kirstie Alley: Dancing With the Stars Is Much Harder for Female Celebs

If it’s up to Kirstie Alley, Derek Hough will get his fourth Dancing With the Stars Mirror Ball trophy, because he’s attached to Kirstie’s girl, Ricki Lake.

As On the Red Carpet noted in their video interview, Ricki has spent all season dropping Kirstie’s name, saying the Season 12 runner-up inspired her to go on the show and lose weight.

So does Kirstie feel pressure for Ricki to win Season 13, since she got Ricki into this?

“No,” Kirstie told On the Red Carpet, “I think Ricki should win because she’s an amazing dancer. And I just want to stay one thing — this is just my observation — it’s much harder for the girls in Dancing With the Stars because, in ballroom dancing, the girl is doing the tricks. So you have to look at it a little bit from that point of view.” She said she’s not discounting the boys’ performances, “but they’re not the ones spinning in the air!”

It sounds like Kirstie and her Season 12 partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, are not on the same page in terms of who should win — even though they looked like adorable BFFs sitting next to each other on the Week 10 Performance Show. Maks is backing J.R. Martinez, despite the fact that J.R. is dancing with Maks’ ex-fiancee, Karina Smirnoff, to whom he no longer speaks. As Maks put it to the New York Post, “If J.R. doesn’t win, there is something fundamentally wrong with America.”
