Grey’s Anatomy Inspires Woman to Become Real-Life Living Donor

The next time someone dismisses Grey's Anatomy as meaningless TV, this story should shut them up.

You may remember that back in Season 5, Grey's had an episode (Season 5, Episode 4, "There's No 'I' in Team") that featured a complicated chain of kidney donations. This dramatization of the life-saving power of kidneys inspired ER nurse Erin Taylor to try it in real life.

“I found it intriguing that people can give a kidney away and essentially never miss it,” she explained to Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail. “I like the idea of paying it forward.”

Pay it forward she did, donating a kidney to a stranger in need through the Living Donor Paired Exchange Program.

We're wowed by Erin Taylor's generosity, and pleased that one of our favorite shows helped save a life. The doctors at Seattle Grace-Mercy West would be proud.
