How Jersey Shore Is Like a Big Dysfunctional Family
The Jersey Shore cast may be a bunch of hard-partying twenty-somethings, but they're also a family. It's a sentiment that gets tossed around a lot on the show, and for once the guidos are totally right. They do act like a family — a drunken, dysfunctional family, but a family none the less.
Don't believe us? Here are the top five ways the Macaroni Rascals are just like mom, pops, and that crazy aunt who yells at everyone.
1. The family that eats together, stays together. No matter what crazy fights they're in the middle of, the gang always sits down together for Sunday dinner. It's the first law of the Shore. The one time SamRon skipped dinner, the rest of the cast acted like the couple had killed JWOWW's dogs or something.
2. Home is where the heart is. Sure, occasionally a cast member will run away for a day or two, but in the end, everyone comes back to their MTV supplied home. Except for Angelina. She's the terrible, trashy cousin the family's ashamed of and likes to pretend doesn't exist.
3. Pranks, prank, and more pranks. The Jersey Shore kids have the biggest prank wars this side of a week-long family reunion full of bored teens.
4. They have their own language. Have you every hung out with someone else's family when they weren't trying to be good hosts? It can feel like they're speaking their own language full of in-jokes, random references, and bizarre nicknames. The Jersey crew take it one step further, intentionally coining new terms at every turn.
