Confirmed: Kris Humphries Claims Fraud, Files for Annulment of Marriage to Kim Kardashian
Kris Humphries is preparing to annul his marriage to Kim Kardashian, according to papers filed by the NBA player on Wednesday afternoon. Kim filed for divorce from Kris on October 31, 2011, after just 72 days of marriage.
Kris marked the boxes requesting “nullity of voidable marriage” and “fraud,” according toUs Weekly. "The reason Kris is alleging 'fraud' is because the other options were ridiculous," a source tells the mag, explaining that Kris isn’t alleging that Kim did something dastardly. "The whole 'fraud' thing is ridiculous. If the marriage was a sham, he was in on it.”
However, TMZ reports Kris is asking Kim to cover his attorney fees, and refers to "community and quasi-community assets."
Annulment differs from divorce in that it legally eradicates the history of the marriage. Kris has previously been very vocal about how he “does not believe in divorce,” and now seems to have found a way to avoid divorce altogether.
Other celebrities who have filed for annulment citing fraud include Renee Zellweger and Britney Spears.
