Is Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” Video a Little Creepy?
Justin Bieber's new "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video featuring Mariah Carey made its debut last night during NBC's Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony special, and we couldn't help but notice that it's a little — how do we put this nicely? — creepy.
But first, the good news: Mariah looked positively smoking (although completely age-inappropriate, as usual — she's 42!) in a barely-there sexy Santa get-up. The Grammy-winning pop singer recently shed 70 pounds using Jenny Craig after giving birth to twins in May. If we know Mariah (and we think we do), there's a major music comeback on the horizon.
Now, the bad news: Justin. Bieber.
Before you start hating, hear us out. Our problem isn't Justin per se, it's that the entire video looks like one big, cheesy Macy's commercial. What's with the shopping carts and Nintendo 3DS product placement? Not to mention Justin's auto-tuned vocals haphazardly slapped on top of the original.
But even worse is the creepy weird dynamic between Mariah and Justin. Is he flirting with her? Is she supposed to be Santa? Isn't he too old to believe in Santa? Isn't she old enough to be his mom?
So many questions, and while none of this is really Justin's fault, we can't help but miss the OG.
