French Vampire Diaries Fans Might Be Banned From Naming Their Baby “Damon”

Sacrebleu! A French couple is in trouble for naming their son “Daemon” after Ian Somerhalder’s Vampire Diaries character, Damon Salvatore. Evidently, adding an “e” makes the name both more French and more satanic.

French authorities are taking Blandine and Lionel Defontaine to court because they claim the name is demonic. Article 57 of France’s Civil Code states: “when a name, or a combination of names, is considered contrary to the interests of the child, the civic officer shall promptly notify the prosecutor, who may refer the matter to the Family Court.” A judge will rule whether or not the name is acceptable on December 15. According to The Daily Mail, Mrs. Defontaine is defending her choice, saying, “I can assure you he does not have any horns, or a tail!”

We’ve seen that footage of naked Damon Salvatore enough times to know he doesn’t have either of those himself, and even though he may not be the best role model, we think the only thing devilish about him is his good looks.
