Glee Season 3, Episode 7: “I Kissed a Girl” Best and Worst Song Performances — Do You Agree?

Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts... along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 3, Episode 7: “I Kissed a Girl,” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. After all, not every Glee cover can be a bestseller on iTunes!

Best Performance of the Night: “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Finn

We loved a number of songs this week — “Perfect” and “Constant Craving,” among others — but it was Finn (Cory Monteith) who ventured way outside his comfort zone and ended up blowing us away. It’s unlikely we’ll ever listen to the bouncy Cyndi Lauper original again without thinking of Finn’s powerfully soulful rendition. In other words, we’re not surprised that this was the moment that melted the ice around Santana (Naya Rivera)’s heart.

Worst Performance of the Night: “I Kissed a Girl” by the Glee Girls

True, Beiste isn’t the world’s greatest singer, but her “Jolene” is still incredibly moving. On the contrary, this cover of “I Kissed a Girl” was almost identical to the over-produced original, and neither Rachel (Lea Michele) nor Santana really stood out. We typically enjoy the higher-energy numbers on Glee, but there were just too many other great songs this week for this one to stand out. (One major highlight of the performance: Rory [Damian McGinty]’s face as he watches the whole thing unfold like a dream.)
