Debbie Allen: ”Groundbreaking” Grey’s Anatomy Is a ”Joy” to Work On
Debbie Allen is most known for her role on '80s TV hit Fame, but she will forever live in our hearts as Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams)'s sassy mom, Catherine, on Grey's Anatomy. Debbie has only played the role in one episode, but it was a memorable one — after all, her character did perform a penis transplant.
Debbie has also been involved with Grey's behind the camera, having directed three episodes so far. Debbie recently talked to Paradeabout her Grey's experiences, and only had good things to say.
Playing Catherine, was "quite a joy," Debbie gushed to the magazine. The part was "dynamic and so much fun," and Grey's itself is "groundbreaking."
As for being behind the scenes? "As a director, I've always had a good time," Debbie said. "A lot of [the cast] are really best friends in real life. It's just a family over there."
Aw. After all the rumors about on-set conflict over the years, it's nice to hear that things have been going well.
