Donald Trump Claims He’s the Reason Lady Gaga Is a Big Star

Who would have thought that, among Donald’s Trump many talents, he’s a master of putting his finger on the musical zeitgeist? The only music we’ve ever associated him with is the Donald Trump theme song from those Double-Stuffed Oreos commercials.

According to his newest book, Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again, Trump essentially says that the only reason Lady Gaga is famous is because of him: “I really believe I had at least something to do with it.” How, exactly? “She became a big star and maybe she became a star because I put her on the Miss Universe Pageant. It’s very possible, who knows what would have happened without it, because she caused a sensation.”

To be fair, Gaga did perform her single “Just Dance” for the first time on the 2008 pageant program (during the swimsuit competition!). But that was in July 2008. Her meteoric rise in the charts started in September 2008, after she’d put in many more public appearances. It wasn’t until January 2009 (right after she performed at Z100’s Jingle Ball) that “Just Dance” became the second song in history to reach the six million mark in paid downloads.

Somehow we have a feeling that Gaga, currently the most famous pop star on the planet, would have had no problem achieving Fame Monster status without appearing on a boob tube show produced by Trump. The more pressing question is: would Trump have become the famous talking head that he is without his combover?
