Fox News has compiled a group of shows that they deem dangerous for unsupervised kids, and along with Gossip Girl, Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant, Secret Life of The American Teenager tops the list!
Melissa Henson, the Director of Communications for The Parents Television Council, told Fox411 that when Secret Life was “originally created it was intended to be a cautionary showing a teenage girl who gets pregnant the first time she has sex, but for something that is supposed to be a cautionary tale it plays like a soap opera. The issues simply are not dealt with in responsible ways on that show.”
While Secret Life probably isn’t suitable for kiddo audiences, it definitely speaks to the struggles facing pregnant teens. If anything the show is too in your face about its moral agenda. After all, according to Secret Life, having sex gets your preggo every single time, most people have a secret STI, and sippin’ on a brewski will turn you into a full-blown addict.
Sorry, Fox, but most of the time we come away Secret Life fearing the dangers of innocent-hand holding. Now that’s a job well done!
