Scotty McCreery Wins New Artist of the Year, Carrie Underwood Nabs Three Awards at the American Country Awards

It was a good night for American Idol at the 2011 American Country Awards, which took place Monday night in Las Vegas. Scotty McCreery, whose album Clear As Day was just certified gold, took home New Artist of the Year. The kid works fast — it was only 6 months ago that Scotty was crowned Season 10 Idol champ and he's already winning major awards!

While accepting the prize, Scotty said, "I want to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, he's the one that got me here... and a big birthday shout out to my mom. It's her birthday today."

It was also a big night for country darling Carrie Underwood, who scored three wins — Female Artist of the Year, and Female Single of the Year and Female Music Video, both for "Mama's Song."

Congrats to the big winners!
