Tamala recently recounted the near-fatal brain aneurysm she suffered at 23 in her own words for Black Enterprise. She started at the beginning, where she explained that she woke up with a “massive headache” and unable to move her right arm, but survived an entire day of work before getting to the doctor and discovering what was actually wrong with her.
When she finally arrived, the doc told her he was shocked she was alive, let alone walking and talking. From there, the situation only got worse. Tamala started having seizures and discovered her aneurysm had burst during the day, which — had it been on another side of her brain — could have left her paralyzed for life. Truth be told, she was very, very lucky to be alive.
After her brush with death in the hospital, it took three months for Tamala to fully recover, but she was forever changed. At first she said she felt she was “weak” for her condition, but the actress now says she found strength in sharing her survival story with others.
And here we thought it was Lanie we should admire for solving murders with her expert forensics. Sounds like Tamala is the real hero!
