Gossip Girl Season 5 Spoilers: What Death? Chuck Bass Might Live Forever … on Film

Dan Humphrey’s Inside might become a movie, after all

The fate of one Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) still hangs in the balance on Season 5 of Gossip Girl, but at least poor Mr. Bass might be getting the chance at life eternal on the silver screen.

That’s right: According to new Gossip Girl spoilers, Dan Humphrey’s (Penn Badgley) infamous Inside novel just might be getting big screen treatment, after all.

Word made the ‘rounds on the internetz yesterday that Gossip Girl is casting “look-a-likes” for a handful of its major players ― including Ed Westwick (Chuck), Chace Crawford (Nate), Zuzanna Szadkowski (Dorota) ― as well as long-gone Connor Paolo (Eric)and Taylor Momsen (Jenny)!

E! Online is reporting that their GG source isn’t “100% sure” that an adaptation is in the works, but that it’s “probably right.” Hmmm!

The casting calls, which we first spotted here and here, make no mention of Serena, Blair or Dan himself, which might pull steam out of the hypothesis, BUT interestingly enough, the call for Nate and Eric look-a-likes is grouped together, ala their book-a-like, Derek. Double hmm!

Might the renewed interest in Dan’s book ― due to the, um, coughcough TWITTER BATTLE (seriously?) ― have re-launched interest in its film rights, too? And where are the players in the central love story, that of the Queen B and her Lonely Boy? And why aren’t they casting famous guest stars to fill the roles, Scream/Stab-style? (We hear the ratings could use a bump.. Just sayin’.)

Either way, we’re ALL IN on this batch of light-hearted fun, should it come to be! In fact, after all the baby/wedding/love-triangle dramz of the first half of the season, we could use a bit more silliness on the UES.

How about you? In favor of seeing scenes from Dan’s bestseller brought to life or think the “fictional” stories are better left in their original form in seasons past?
