Dancing With the Stars Performers Get Raises Under New Union Contract
It’s not much, but at least some worthy folks will be getting a pay boost in this economy.
According to the Los Angeles Times, “Actors and other performers who appear on such shows as Saturday Night Live, Days of Our Lives and Dancing With the Stars would get modest pay raises under a new contract secured by the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.”
On Friday night the union revealed it had negotiated a contract for a 6 percent increase in wages over three years and a 1 percent increase in employer contributions to the union's health and retirement funds. If ratified, the contract would reportedly run through November 15, 2014.
AFTRA represents more than 70,000 performers, journalists and other artists; the contract covers actors, talk show hosts, singers, dancers and others who work on soap operas, sports programs, talk shows, non prime-time dramas and variety shows.
It’s nice to know that some of our favorite DWTS performers will be getting a well-deserved pay bump.
