Denis O’Hare Compares True Blood to American Horror Story
Long live the king, and long live the Burn Man!
Denis O'Hare counts himself lucky to play two such memorable characters as Russell Edgington on True Blood and the burnt Larry Harvey in American Horror Story. So how do the two compare?
"[Larry is] a very different guy than Russell, a very human guy, which I love," he tells Assignment X. " My character goes from being a monster to a pathetic, suffering human being, which I think is fantastic."
Both characters require some amount of makeup, and though it can take hours to apply, Denis enjoys being transformed.
"The one for True Blood was definitely hard to wear, that was tough to wear," he reveals. "This one is actually not that hard to wear, and [the makeup artists] do such a beautiful job of it that I’m thrilled to be in it."
Next year, Russell will be back to raise hell since he's out of his cement grave. But though he was gone all last season, he was certainly not forgotten.
"They keep saying, 'We’re in a post-Russell Edgington world,' and they keep talking about, 'When Russell Edgington pulled his spine out …'," he notes. "He’s been invoked again and again and again. I love that."
