Even the Author of Pretty Little Liars Books Has No Idea Who ”A” Is
In case you haven’t heard, just because you know who “A” is in the Pretty Little Liars book series definitely doesn’t mean you know the identity of “A” in the television series. And you’re not alone.
Sara Shepard, the author of the original book series, admits to EW that she has no idea who “A” is in the ABC Family version: “I kind of like that I don’t know. It could go either way. I think a lot of people are thinking, ‘Well, I’m dying to know who 'A' is, so I’m just going to read the books!’ But in the series, there are three different ‘As.’”
Yes, as loyal readers of the PLL books know, the first “A” was Mona Vanderwall, and the second “A” was Alison DiLaurentis’ twin sister. The third “A,” however, is still unknown. Sara revealed some of her inner sleuth:
“There’s part of me that wonders if it could be the same ‘A’ that I have. But then part of me thinks they’re too smart for that and would actually make it someone else to really confuse readers. I’m sure...They know exactly who it is, and they have seeded all these little clues that will seem really obvious once ‘A’ is revealed.”
At this point, we don’t even have an “obvious” theory! But at least we know our discovery date: March 19, 2012. We’ll be looking for all those little clues Sara seems to be hinting at.
