Courtney Love Vs. Landlord: Unpaid Rent, Illegal Paint Jobs, Playing With Fire

Okay, Courtney Love. You win. After reading your latest saga in sadness, we’re back on Team Courtney.

According to the NY Post, Court’s New York City landlord is claiming that her famous rock ‘n’ roll tenant is two months’ behind on her rent. No big deal, right? We’ve all been there at some point. But! Courtney’s monthly rent on her West Village apartment is a whopping $27,000.

Alleging that Courtney owes $54,000, and that her redecorating was not authorized, the landlord has already hired a lawyer. But so did street-smart Courtney, who’s rebutted all claims, stating that all she did was put a lousy coat of paint up — by a pre-approved painter — and that she is completely up to date with her payments. Rather, the landlord is demanding the remaining two months’ rent up front.

Oh, and yes, there was that 911 call in the middle of the night from Courtney, after she set the apartment on fire. But Courtney has a rebuttal for that, too! Apparently “the rocker admits a candle started a small fire in June,” but that it was quickly put out.

Look: after a decade spent in love with Love, adoring her ‘90s girl-grunge style, Hole’s 1994 album Live Through This, and her Serious Actress/Golden Globes nomination phase, we changed our tune after reading about her daughter Frances Bean’s struggle for emancipation from a disoriented, distracted mother.

But this new Love, the kind that actually makes coherent and eloquent statements to Page Six and hires a fantastic-sounding mouthpiece... this is a Love we could fall in again.
