The Lying Game’s Charisma Carpenter Weighs in on Whether or Not Her Character Is the Twins’ Mother
We couldn’t be more excited that Charisma Carpenter is coming to The Lying Game in January for a six-episode (or more) arc, playing Rebecca Annie Sewell. Carpenter recently spoke with reporters about her character and her startling resemblance to star Alexandra Chando (Sutton Mercer and Emma Becker).
“Well, I think she’s so beautiful,” says Carpenter, “so I will take that as an absolute compliment and she’s so bright, so bright, and strong. She’s just a strong girl.” It can’t be easy playing two different characters on one show, and Carpenter appreciates how Chando stays balanced. “She’s very capable and I admire her very much. She has a lot of responsibility at a very young age. So I will definitely be grateful for any comparisons to that young lady.”
Will Lying Game producers take advantage of the resemblance? Chando has already teased that Rebecca — not Annie Hobbs — could be the twins’ birth mother. “Well, I mean, obviously I’m wondering too,” confessed Carpenter. “It would seem that I am, but I don’t know if I’m a red herring in that really we haven’t met her yet at all. I don’t know. I kind of hope I am. It would be nice to be around awhile. But I don’t know for sure. They haven’t told me. We only suspect.” Ah ha! We’re sure Sutton and Emma would be relieved that their real mother is both less crazy and more fashionable than first suspected.
Charisma Carpenter will guest on six episodes of The Lying Game, staring January 2 with Season 1, Episode 11, “O Twin, Where Art Thou?”
