Darren Criss Sings Britney Spears Cover and Original Music in NYC [VIDEOS]
Darren Criss (Blaine) may be just a few days into his holiday break from shooting GleeSeason 3, but he's still busy, busy, busy making the rounds on the charity circuit!
On Sunday, December 18, Darren kept up his now-yearly tradition of bringing some holiday cheer to the folks at Toys for Tots by performing a sold-out show at NYC's Joe's Pub. The first 100 fans who showed up — following a tweet from Darren that morning — with $10 and a new, unwrapped toy got a ticket for the intimate show, which featured, among others, a slightly flubbed version of Darren's song "Jealousy" (maybe he was just caught up in the moment?).
The Pub show topped off a weekend of singing and do-gooding for Darren. After wrapping up filming for Glee on Friday, Darren flew cross-country and arrived in NYC on Saturday, where he made a stop at Lincoln Center to perform alongside Yale’s Whiffenpoofs at their "Sing Out, Raise Hope" benefit for the Trevor Project and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Darren's set was littered with songs from Glee and Team StarKid, as well as a a special version of Britney Spears's "Baby One More Time" merged with Beethoven’s "Für Elise" — you gotta see it (below) to believe it!
Darren is in New York to take over Daniel Radcliffe's role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying starting January 3. It will be his Broadway debut and we’ll (obviously) be rooting for him!
