Sinead O’Connor Files for Divorce After Only 18 Days of Marriage
Has Kim Kardashian sparked a marriage trend in Hollywood?
Controversial singer Sinead O’Connor has gone ahead and pulled a Kimmy and filed for divorce from her new husband Barry Herridge after only 18 days of marriage.
The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer broke the news in a confusing blog post on her official website on Monday, December 26, where she hinted that members of her husband’s family — as well as “a bit of a smoke of weed” after her wedding ceremony — put an end to her marriage.
“Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband's life,” Sinead wrote. “And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink.”
“My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage. It became apparent to me that if he were to stay with me he would be losing too much to bear."
Sinead and Barry were married in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the bride wearing a simple pink dress that showed off her new religious chest tattoo.
O’Connor has been married twice before: first to music producer John Reynolds in 1989 and then to journalist Nicholas Sommerlad in 2001.
