Exclusive: Meet Bethenny Frankel’s New Baby: Skinnygirl Face & Body!
She’s tackled marriage, motherhood, and margaritas. Now, reality-star-turned-entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel is out to conquer the skincare market with her brand new line of products, Skinnygirl Face & Body. Like everything else in her life, Bethenny was hands-on in the creation of the line, which includes facial cleansers and moisturizers, body lotions and washes, and lip scrubs. She’s also created products for pregnant women, including belly butters and foot sprays. Starting this week, everything will be available exclusively at Walmart. Bethenny spoke to Wetpaint Entertainment about her excitement for the launch, her New Years’ plans…and whether or not she’s ready for Baby #2!
Wetpaint Entertainment: What made you decide to branch into skincare? Was it something you’ve always seen as a natural next step?
Bethenny: I'm consistent about my own skin care which is ultimately the most important factor in having good skin. I was tired of people believing that skincare has to be expensive to be effective. I don’t believe in using deceptive marketing to fool the consumer.
Wetpaint Entertainment: How are these products “Skinnygirl” products? What can they do for the body that goes along with the Skinnygirl lifestyle?
Bethenny: Skinnygirl is about practical solutions for women. I'm providing an effective, affordable skin care line that solves problems ranging from exfoliation to firming to shimmering. Every product in the line has a purpose.
Wetpaint Entertainment:Why did you choose to partner with Walmart as opposed to another retailer?
Bethenny: Because I'm not a fancy lady at heart. You will be hard-pressed to find me at an expensive department store, but you will definitely see me roaming the aisles at Walmart! Walmart is betting on me and I'm betting on Walmart. They know that the future is about high quality and high style at affordable prices.
Wetpaint Entertainment:Did you test a lot of products and scents before you found these formulas? What was the process like?
Bethenny: The process is always very detailed with me. I go through many different formulas of performance, scent and packaging before it is perfect. It has to be perfect if it has my name on it.
Wetpaint Entertainment: Skinnygirl Margaritas have come under fire in the form of a lawsuit claiming its ingredients aren’t “all natural.” (Bethenny claims the suit is frivolous) Are you worried about the naysayers when it comes to this line, too?
Bethenny: You know, success is a rose with petals and thorns. Skinnygirl is the number one fastest growing spirits brand in the country. I am prepared for that kind of success with this product. My worst problem should be that it’s as successful as Skinnygirl cocktails.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Does Jason like the way the lotions smell on you? Did he have any say in the decision making process when it came to the creation of the line?
Bethenny: Oh, he loves the line! I sat him in my bathroom and I went through every product and every purpose and made him approve all the scents.
Wetpaint Entertainment: Speaking of which, you and Jason are not only married, you work together. What’s the secret to working with your spouse and staying sane?
Bethenny: Well, Jason has a full-time job, yet he also supports me during his free time. But I’m not going to lie, it is challenging, separating work and home life because it's all-consuming.
Wetpaint Entertainment:You’ve talked about wanting another child. Do you think that will happen – or start to happen – in 2012?
Bethenny: Honestly, I have no idea. I couldn't have predicted the first one. As everyone saw on TV, that was a huge surprise to me!
Wetpaint Entertainment: What are you doing for New Year’s? Will you be going to Pennsylvania?
Bethenny: We were at Jason’s parents’ house in Pennsylvania for Christmas, but we’re going to be in New York for New Year’s Eve.
Wetpaint Entertainment: Other than you, Kim Zolciak is the only other housewife who’s been given a spin-off (although hers is only a one-time special about her wedding). Which other housewives do you think should have their own show? Who would YOU watch for half an hour a week, just on their own?
Bethenny: I’m going to leave that to Andy Cohen. He’s the master when it comes to that!
