The Bachelorette

Ryan Sutter Shares Christmas Poem He Wrote For Trista During The Bachelorette

It was almost too much. Ryan Sutter was already a hot firefighter/athlete — and then he proved he had a romantic, sensitive side by writing a beautiful poem for Trista Rehn on The Bachelorette Season 1. It was after their special Sea World date, during which Ryan admitted he was jealous of Trista kissing a dolphin. (Love triangle!)

Watch the video to see their date and Trista’s tearful reaction to the poem, called "Something About Her.” You have to be a pretty secure man to share such a heartfelt poem with a woman — and many years later, Ryan is still sharing poems he wrote for his lady love.

Last week, Ryan posted a poem he wrote for Trista during their first Christmas nine years ago. "The Bachelorette had not yet aired so we were not allowed to hang out in public,” Ryan wrote in his blog on “I Thought it may be good to share it this holiday Season..."

Head to Ryan’s blog for the full poem, but here are our favorite stanzas:

"Down from the heavens and into my life
Fell the love that one day I’ll call my wife
Trista, I love you and I always will
You make me so happy and happier still

Soon will be the days when no longer I hide
When we walk cheek to cheek, hand in hand, side by side
You complete my dreams, leave my list wish-less
You are the meaning, the love that is Christmas."
