Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
When Oskar (newcomer Thomas Horn) loses his father (Tom Hanks) in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, he's certain that a mysterious key he finds will lead him to a message that his dad hid somewhere in the city for him. While his mother (Sandra Bullock) is engulfed in grief, Oskar finds his own way to mourn via a journey throughout NYC that opens his eyes to the world around him. Sexy: Not that kind of movie Not sexy: Losing loved ones Verdict: This tearjerker looks amazing, but you may want to fly solo to this one if you don't like crying in front of people.
Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Jeremy Irvine and Emily Watson, this film follows the incredible journey of Joey as he journeys through the First World War and touches the lives of British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter along the way. Oh Joey is a horse. Sexy: Men in uniform Not sexy: War Verdict: This epic saga is both educational and entertaining — a great choice for the whole family!
A just-married couple's honeymoon phase is cut short when the hubby's crazy sister shows up for an extended stay. We know this sounds exactly like Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill, except this movie actually looks pretty good! Edward Burns directs and stars in his documentary-style look at marriage, family, and New Yorkers. Sexy: Being in love in Manhattan Not sexy: In-laws staying in your Manhattan-sized apartment Verdict: Unless your boyfriend is an intellectual hipster type, you probably won't be able to talk him into this one — in other words, this is a great excuse to spend some quality time with your BFF instead. Girls night!
