Jillian Harris: I’m More Than The Girl From The Bachelor and Bachelorette
She's a hot dog topping specialist, proud Canadian, design expert from ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and host of the new show Canada's Handyman Challenge. But most of us will always know Jillian Harris best from Jason Mesnick'sThe Bachelor Season 13 and as The Bachelorette on Season 5.
"I've come to realize I can't really avoid it anymore," Jillian told the Calgary Herald in a new interview to promote Canada's Handyman Challenge, which starts Jan. 10 on HGTV Canada. "I tried so hard to move on from that experience. But I think, until the day I die, I'll always be known as that girl who was on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Instead of fighting it, I try my best to continue to educate people that that is not who I am, it is something that I did and that I am more than that."
Now she's entering the hosting world and, as Rosemaster Chris Harrison knows, it's not really all wine and roses.
"It's very difficult, despite what people may think of hosting and that it might be easy," Jillian said. "It's not. It's nerve-racking, you have all these people relying on you. My job is really to lead the show and be the face of the show to a certain extent along with the judges. There's a script, there's a method to the madness as op-posed to saying whatever you feel like saying and hoping it gets edited well."
