Melissa Gorga Reveals Her Strict Parenting Tactics
Real Housewife of New Jersey Melissa Gorga may be the ripped, sexy pop star of the bunch, but when it comes to parenting her three little ones, she claims she's the disciplinarian parent. Like her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice, she does it all by herself — cooks, cleans, takes care of the kids — all while shooting Real Housewives of New Jersey and performing her one single in bars across New Jersey.
So, what strict rules does Melissa raise her kids by? No social networking, for one. Sure, Antonia's only 6, but her 11 year old cousin Gia is already tweeting up a storm!
Citing cyber-bullying as a big reason, Melissa told Babble, "I personally don’t think social networking is a place for young children. They have so much time to do it when they get older, why subject them to it at such an early age?"
And, if we know kids of Real Housewives, it's only a matter of time before Antonia wants to start dressing in trashy outfits like Mama does when she sings. But, Melissa says she'll try to keep her own dad's protective rules in mind when that time comes.
"I grew up in a very strict household where I wasn’t allowed to go to the mall unless I had something to buy or leave the house unless my Dad approved of what I was wearing. I don’t believe in the 'anything goes attitude,' you need to teach them at an early age to listen to you and trust your judgment."
Finally, she makes sure her kids TV time is verrry limited. Of course! We don't need them stumbling across an episode of Watch What Happens Live at least until they're out of diapers. But, Melissa dished, she does have one TV weakness she can't help but give in to: "Obviously Joey is a baby, I do allow him to watch Elmo when he wants to."
Aha! So she isn't perfect! We knew there had to be something...
Let's hope Melissa's strict but sensible parenting goals come to fruition, before we have three more Brielle Zolciaks running around. (Love you, Brie!)
