Season 3 Spoilers! Glee Has Disco Fever — But Is John Travolta Involved?
Glee is goin' DISCOOOO in the New Year!
TV Guide confirms that Ryan Murphy and Barry Gibb will team up on Glee Season 3, Episode 16 this April that will pay homage to Gibb’s legendary group, The Bee Gees, and their soundtrack for disco-era classic Saturday Night Fever! "We've never done disco on the show, but I'm interested in the genius of the Bee Gees," creator Ryan Murphy told the mag.
Before you roll your eyes at the prospect of another tribute ep, in a season that was promised to be largely without them, remember that this soundtrack is a goldmine of hum-able tuneage — and it could be a whole lot of fun! Just imagine an adorable McKinley couple dueting on "How Deep is Your Love"? Or a potentially divided Finchel serenading one another with "If I Can't Have You"? Plus there are the classics, "Stayin' Alive" and "You Should be Dancing," to keep the mood a bit lighter.
How about the possibility of Mr. Tony Manero himself (aka John Travolta!) coming on as a guest star? It could happen... despite his claim this time last year that he doesn’t have enough time.
"I would ask him," Ryan says of the Fever star. "Travolta and Cory Monteith became close friends at a party when Cory told him he'd seen Broken Arrow 20 times. Travolta sent him an autographed copy of the DVD. So maybe we'll have them dance in a Finn dream sequence."
