Bravo honcho and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen told HollywoodLife he was approached to be The Bachelor back before anyone knew anything about him — like his sexual orientation.
“I got a call once years ago before anybody knew who I was,” Andy told HollywoodLife.com at the Coriolanus premiere at the Paris Theater in NYC on January 17. “My picture was in W Magazine, and the producers of The Bachelor called. They were calling to see if I would ever be interested in going through the casting process.”
This must’ve been in the Brad Womack/Matt Grant era, before Season 13’s Jason Mesnick re-started the trend of casting guys from The Bachelorette instead of newbies off the street.
Obviously, Andy said no. “I said, ‘You are barking up the wrong tree. Unless The Bachelor is going in a different direction …’” Which they should, if it means landing Andy in the mini rosemaster seat! Not that Andy is a fan of the show — he said he doesn’t watch The Bachelor — but anyone who can handle all those Real Housewives would do just fine in the drama pit of crazy contestants.
